After some careful thought about the future direction of L2 Mythos, I decided a website redesign was in order. Although the first website wasn't bad, the future I imagined for Mythos involved a website that was better able to deliver content. The first website was simple and to the point. It was to provide enough information to get the player into the server. It didn't (and couldn't) accomplish much outside of that.
Originally, L2 Mythos was a 'tribute,' of sorts, to the faction server Red vs. Blue. It was apparent that the admin, Erb, wasn't willing to continue developing his server with the same fervor he had in the past (or, at all). Erb had moved on to new things; I have nothing against that. As a former player, I decided I would pick up where Erb left off and and continue the server he set up. However, that meant that when Red vs. Blue got a wipe and some new features, people returned to the server that had already proven itself.
After that incident, I realized that simply trying to copy another server isn't the best route to success. In order to stand out against Red vs. Blue, I redesigned the website to make it a more integral part of the Mythos experience.
What does this mean? Well, right now this means nothing to you. But in the coming months I will elaborate on the situation more.
We're not dead yet!
Update: The forum database has been successfully recovered, and the developer log is working now. Hopefully I can start filling it with new entries very soon.
When I started this project, I wanted to provide a new home for Infinite L2's Red vs. Blue players who were facing a dying server with an absent admin. However, Red vs. Blue wiped clean and added some new features that brought the population back in droves. As a result, the majority of Mythos' population collapsed as they returned to RvB.
Where does that leave us? Well, I'm not going to scrap the project entirely, but I'm going to take a few months to rethink the server. Some players have pitched some excellent ideas for a new server. However, don't expect any significant developments in the near future.
